This year, SCWA is hosting Author's Toolbox, a series to help members improve their craft and better understand the publishing world.

SCWA’s poetry celebration continues in May with Kelli Russell Agodon (left) and Jenna Le (right).

Award-winning poet, writer and editor Agodon will talk about writing poetry and her newest book, Dialogues with Rising Tides, which was shortlisted for the Eric Hoffer Book Award Grand Prize in Poetry. She is the co-founder of Two Sylvias Press and co-author of The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Prompts for Your Writing Practice. Her other books include Hourglass Museum, Letters from the Emily Dickinson Room and Fire On Her Tongue: An Anthology of Contemporary Women's Poetry.

Her work has appeared in The Atlantic, O, The Oprah Magazine, Prairie Schooner, New England Review and Garrison Keillor's Good Poems for Hard Times anthology.

Le, a New York City physician, educator and poet, is the author of three full-length poetry collections: Six Rivers, A History of the Cetacean American Diaspora and Manatee Lagoon. A daughter of Vietnamese refugees, she was selected by Marilyn Nelson as the winner of Poetry By The Sea’s inaugural sonnet competition. Her poems have appeared in AGNI, Verse Daily, West Branch and many other journals. Diaspora won an Elgin Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association.

Free for SCWA members; $25 for nonmembers.
