CHAPTER NEWS
The Memoir Virtual Chapter has a new leader: Sharon May. She is a past winner of The Petigru Review’s first-place award for nonfiction for the beginning chapter of Hillbilly Crazy and Mountain Queer and a past winner of the Carrie McCray Nickens Poetry Fellowship Award in both the novel and nonfiction categories.
Participating in SCWA’s chapters is one of the key benefits of membership, and it’s our chapter leaders who make them successful. Thank you, Sharon, for stepping into this role and thanks to all our other chapter leaders for their ongoing work.
The recently revived Clemson Chapter has a new meeting location. For more information, go to Local and Virtual Chapters on the SCWA website and click on the chapter leader's name to send her an email request. You also can find information on the other local and virtual chapters at this site.
2022 MEMBERSHIP SURVEY
On Oct. 24, SCWA members will receive the annual membership survey and will have until midnight Tuesday, Nov. 8, to complete it. I cannot stress enough how important it is that each of you responds, because your feedback is critical to our planning process.
This year, we are asking for a little more information about you and your writing preferences because we want to make sure we offer the benefits, programs and events that meet your needs. We’ve also added an open question at the end for you to comment on anything you want to share with us. All responses are confidential and anonymous, and I and the other members of the board of directors want to hear from you. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the 2022 membership survey later this month.
If you have any questions about membership at SCWA or anything else, feel free to contact me at SCWAMembership@gmail.com
