Join host, Amber Wheeler Bacon, and special guest, Ray McManus, for a conversation about love. We'll discuss a few classic examples of great love poems/stories, how to write convincingly about this topic and how to avoid cliches. Bring your favorite love stories and poems to share!

SPECIAL GUEST Ray McManus’s poems and prose have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. His first book, ­­Driving Through the Country Before You Are Born, was selected by Southern poet Kate Daniels and published by USC Press in 2007. Since then he has gone on to publish three more books: Left Behind (published by Stepping Stones Press in 2008), Red Dirt Jesus (selected by Alicia Ostriker for the Marick Press Poetry Prize and published by Marick Press in 2011), and Punch. (published by Hub City Press in 2014, and winner of the 2015 Independent Publishers Book Award). McManus has recently co-edited an anthology with USC Press called Found Anew.




HOST Amber Wheeler Bacon is a writer, editor, teacher and literacy coach. She has an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and is on the board of directors of the South Carolina Writers Association. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Five PointsPost RoadNew Ohio Review, Crazyhorse and Witness. You can find her writing online at  PloughsharesCRAFT, Fiction Writer’s Review and New South. She is the recipient of the 2018 Breakout 8 Writers Prize sponsored by The Author’s Guild and a Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholarship from the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference. Her story collection, We Were Vessels, was one of five finalists for Hub City Press’s C. Michael Curtis Short Story Book Prize. She is Assistant Fiction Editor at Four Way Review
